MakroCare organised Webinar on PV (Europe Focus) successfully

HYDERABAD: MakroCare, a global clinical services firm, recognizes the need to continuously educate Clinical Research, Drug Safety, and Medical professionals in the field of Pharmacovigilance. With this need in mind, we successfully organised the Webinar on Pharmacovigilance (Europe Focus), first of its kind in India, on November 27, 2009 to impart knowledge and information on regulatory and pharmacovigilance practices in Europe. The Webinar was on Pharmacovigilance, focusing on European Union – QPPV, and Legislation to implementation in PV: European perspective.

Dr. Irene Fermont, MD, Vice President, Risk Management and Pharmacovigilance- ADDS, Dr. Manoj Sharma (PhD), Senior Research Fellow Pharmacovigilance and pharmacoepidemiology Unit, Deptt of Clinical Pharmacology (INSERM U657) University of Bordeaux II, France, and Dr. Driss BERDAI, DM, Ex- National expert (Pharmacovigilance) – EMEA, Senior Consultant, Dept of Pharmacology University Hospital of Bordeaux, France were the honourable speakers for the Webinar, who interacted and answered all the queries and questions of the participants.

The Webinar went for more than two hours, starting at 4.00 p.m. IST and about sixty participants from well-known Pharma industries from USA, Europe, Asia-pacific, and India joined in the interactive Webinar. The theme of this Webinar was to impart important information about European Regulation in Pharmacovigilance, Roles and Responsibility of QPPV (European Union), Practical problems and solution in Pharmacovigilance, to the medical/clinical community. Dr. Salil Budhiraja, Sr. Manager, PV & Drug Safety, MakroCare was the facilitator of the Webinar. Dr. Salil highlighted the integrated role of PharmCentre in PV services.

Mr. Mahesh Malneedi, President, MakroCare was the Guest speaker on the occasion. He introduced MakroCare and elaborated on its PV and drug safety services. He also highlighted the opening up of Indian markets for PV and clinical research, and the services that Indian companies can offer in terms of monitoring of Pharmacovigilance and drug safety.

More than 100 participants from Pharma companies, CROs, academic institutions and hospitals – physicians, academicians, professionals and student community from pharmacovigilance field joined the Webinar and availed the great networking opportunity to update their knowledge.
